Ep 11. Carry On Hawkeye

After a long, grueling day at the 4077th, Hawkeye Pierce (Alan Alda) is looking forward to some well-deserved rest. But when his army buddy, Tommy Gillis (Larry Linville), shows up out of the blue, Hawkeye finds himself dragged into a wild night of partying.

Tommy is on his way to Tokyo to pick up a new shipment of medical supplies, and he's determined to make the most of his stopover in Korea. Despite Hawkeye's protests, Tommy talks him into leaving the base and heading into the nearby village for some R&R.

Once they arrive in the village, Tommy's true intentions become clear: he's out to score with as many women as possible. Hawkeye is initially reluctant to participate in Tommy's womanizing, but is eventually swayed by his friend's charisma and charm.

As the night wears on, Hawkeye starts to feel increasingly guilty about his actions. He knows that he should be back at the base, helping the wounded soldiers who have put their lives on the line for their country. But Tommy's relentless persuasion and the allure of a night of recklessness are hard to resist.

As dawn approaches, the two men stumble back to the base, drunk and exhausted. Hawkeye barely has time to rest before he's awakened by a call to the operating room. But despite his hangover and lack of sleep, he does his best to help the wounded, never letting on about the wild night he's just had.

Throughout the episode, we see Hawkeye struggling with his conscience. On the one hand, he wants to have a good time and blow off some steam. On the other hand, he understands that as a doctor in a warzone, he has a responsibility to take care of the men and women who depend on him.

As the episode comes to a close, Hawkeye learns an important lesson about the balance between work and play. While it's okay to let loose and have fun from time to time, it's never okay to neglect your duties, especially when lives are at stake. In the end, Hawkeye decides to carry on and do his best, no matter how difficult the circumstances.
