Martin, the popular sitcom of the 90s, returns with its third season and third episode, "I've Got Work to Do." As the title suggests, the storyline revolves around Martin's work-life balance, or the lack thereof.
The episode begins with Martin, played by Martin Lawrence, coming back home after a long day at work. His girlfriend Gina, played by Tisha Campbell-Martin, greets him at the door, but Martin is too busy fussing about his work to pay her any attention. Gina tries to strike up a conversation, but Martin brushes her off and heads to the kitchen to grab a beer and some food.
As Martin munches on his food, Gina tries to get his attention again, but he ignores her and starts to watch TV. Gina is visibly upset about Martin's behavior, and she confronts him about his lack of interest in their relationship. Martin's response is typical of him - he tries to crack a joke and make light of the situation, but Gina is not amused.
The next day, Martin goes to work and meets up with his co-workers, Tommy, Cole, and Pam. Even at work, Martin's mind is preoccupied with his personal life. He starts to open up to his friends about his issues with Gina, but the conversation is interrupted when their boss, Stan, walks in.
Stan assigns the team a new project that requires them to work overtime for the next few days. Martin is not thrilled about having to work extra hours, but he tries to put on a brave face for his colleagues. However, as the week progresses, the pressure of the work starts to get to him, and he becomes more and more irritable.
Back at home, Gina is feeling neglected and frustrated. She tries to reach out to Martin again, but he is too busy with work to pay any attention to her. Gina decides to take matters into her own hands and starts to make plans with her friends, hoping to make Martin jealous and get him to pay attention to her.
Meanwhile, Martin's work schedule continues to take a toll on him. He is constantly tired, stressed, and snappy with his friends and co-workers. His boss, Stan, notices his behavior and takes him aside to talk to him about it. Stan advises Martin to take some time off work and focus on his personal life, but Martin is too stubborn to listen.
Despite his boss's advice, Martin decides to continue working overtime and ignore his personal life. However, things come to a head when Gina organizes a party at their apartment and invites all their friends, hoping to show Martin what he is missing out on. Martin, still caught up in his work, arrives home late and is surprised to find a party in full swing.
At first, Martin is annoyed with Gina and her friends, but as the night progresses, he starts to loosen up and enjoy himself. Gina takes the opportunity to confront Martin about his behavior, and the two of them finally have an honest conversation about their relationship. Martin realizes that he has been neglecting Gina and promises to make more time for her in the future.
The episode ends with Martin and Gina reconciling and cuddling on the couch, happy in the knowledge that they have overcome their troubles. "I've Got Work to Do" is a heartwarming story that highlights the importance of balancing work and personal life and the value of communication in relationships.
