Martha Speaks is a hit children’s show that has won hearts all over the world. Season 3 episode 28 is a double feature titled "Therapy Dog/Martha's Duck Trouble".
In the first segment, "Therapy Dog," Martha's pet owner Helen learns about a new program at the library that trains dogs to become therapy dogs who can help children read. It's a perfect fit for Martha because as a talking dog, she can clearly communicate with kids. However, Martha must first become certified as a therapy dog, which involves passing a few tests. She must learn to stay calm around children, not become distracted by other dogs, and follow basic commands. Alongside Helen, Martha trains rigorously and passes the initial screening test. But when a little girl offers Martha a treat mid-test, she forgets everything she learned and gets disqualified. Determined to try again, Helen enlists T.D. to help train Martha with extra discipline. Following T.D.'s advice, Martha manages to stay calm, even with children's excited reactions, and becomes certified as a therapy dog.
In the second segment, "Martha's Duck Trouble," Martha’s owners go on a camping trip with their niece and bring Martha along. Martha is excited because she has never been on a camping trip before. But before she can fully enjoy the trip, she finds that the nearby pond is home to a mother duck and her eggs. Martha immediately takes a liking to the duck family and wants to be their protector. However, Martha is not the only one that has taken an interest in the duck family, a nearby hawk has also laid its eye on them. Martha tries to get the family to move to safety, but the mother duck refuses to leave her nest. The situation gets dire when the hawk swoops in, determined to steal an egg. To protect the eggs, Martha comes up with a clever plan and involves her fellow campers in it. Through teamwork and Martha’s quick thinking, the eggs are saved.
