No chicken, No check is the 8th season, 6th episode of the popular American sitcom Married...with Children. The episode was first aired on November 6, 1993. The show is created by Michael G. Moye and Ron Leavitt and has 11 seasons in total, making it one of the longest-running sitcoms in American history.
The Bundy family is back in this hilarious episode that centers around a chicken. The family is eagerly waiting for their monthly welfare check, which they rely on to pay their rent and buy groceries. But with the arrival of the mailman, they are in for a rude shock. Their welfare check hasn't arrived yet due to some error at the welfare office.
Meanwhile, Peggy, Al's wife, has been having a tough time keeping herself entertained. With nothing to do, she spends her days lounging on the couch while watching TV and eating junk food. But when she learns about a chicken competition, she sees it as an opportunity to keep herself occupied and earns some cash in the process. She convinces Al to buy her a chicken, which she thinks will be a surefire winner.
But when the chicken falls ill, Peggy decides to take matters into her own hands. She takes the chicken to a local veterinarian, but the cost of its treatment is far beyond what they can afford. The Bundys need to sell the chicken if they want to pay for the treatment and compete in the competition.
But selling the chicken isn't as easy as they thought it would be. The local market is flooded with chickens, and they are unable to find a buyer for their sick chicken. Desperate for cash, Al decides to sell the chicken to Jefferson, his neighbor, who runs a restaurant. Jefferson agrees to buy the chicken on the condition that they deliver it to the restaurant.
Meanwhile, Kelly, the Bundy's daughter, has been keeping herself busy with her latest love interest, a nerd named Ronald. But when her boyfriend shows up at her home, the Bundys are not happy with him. To make matters worse, Ronald accidentally releases Peggy's chicken, and it runs off. Now the Bundys must find the chicken before it's too late.
In typical Married...with Children fashion, chaos ensues. Al and Jefferson get into a ridiculous car chase, racing each other to deliver the chicken. Meanwhile, Peggy and Kelly are in a mad dash to catch the chicken before it's too late. Along the way, they encounter a host of amusing characters, including a group of nuns and a group of construction workers.
As the episode comes to a close, the Bundys are reunited with their beloved chicken, but it's too late to enter it into the competition. The family is once again left with nothing but their own wit and sense of humor to get them through tough times.
No chicken, No check is a classic episode of Married...with Children, featuring all the hallmarks of the show's unique brand of irreverent humor. Fans of the show will love this episode, which delivers laughs and heart in equal measure.
