Al Bundy, the patriarch of the Bundy family and former high school football star, is feeling down on his luck. With his birthday just around the corner, Al can't help but feel like he's accomplished nothing in life.
Meanwhile, Al's wife Peggy and their two children, Kelly and Bud, are busy planning a surprise birthday party for him. Peggy wants everything to be perfect, but her plans keep getting derailed by unexpected obstacles.
As the day of the party approaches, Al's self-esteem continues to plummet. Desperate for a way to boost his confidence, he decides to visit a psychic. The psychic tells him that he will be visited by three ghosts who will help him see himself in a new light.
As Al falls asleep that night, he is transported to the first of three dream sequences. In this dream, he is visited by his old high school football coach who reminds him of his glory days on the field. Al begins to feel a renewed sense of pride in himself and his accomplishments.
In the second dream sequence, Al is visited by a version of himself from the future. This version of Al is a rich and successful businessman who has everything he ever wanted. However, he is also lonely, unhappy, and estranged from his family. Future Al tells current Al that he needs to appreciate what he has now before it's too late.
Finally, Al is visited by the last ghost who shows him a vision of his own funeral. Al sees that his family and friends are gathered around his casket, mourning his passing. He realizes that although he may feel like a failure, he has touched the lives of those around him and has made a difference in the world.
When Al wakes up from his dreams, he is a changed man. He realizes that he may not be a millionaire or a world-renowned athlete, but he is loved by his family and has made a positive impact on those around him. And, to his surprise, his family throws him a surprise birthday party that is a testament to how much they care about him.
Overall, "If I Could See Me Now" is a heartwarming episode of Married...with Children that highlights the importance of appreciating what we have and the impact we make on others' lives.
