Ep 8. 976-SHOE

Al Bundy, the main character of the show, who works at a shoe store, returns home from work to find a phone bill that is twice as high as usual. Upon examination of the bill, he discovers that his wife Peg and son Bud have been calling a phone number that charges $2 per minute. Al starts his own shoe hotline, where he talks to lonely women about shoes, charging them $2 per minute. However, things do not go as smoothly as planned, as Marcy, the Bundy's neighbor and Peg's best friend, discovers the hotline and starts promoting it to every woman she knows.

As the hotline becomes more popular, Al becomes obsessed with it, neglecting his family and work in the process. Eventually, his behavior causes him to lose his job at the shoe store and the hotline to be shut down by the phone company. Meanwhile, Bud schemes to make some extra money by advertising his own services as a shoe shine boy.

The episode ends with Al and Bud reconciling after their respective schemes fail, and the family going back to their normal routine. However, the phone bill is still unpaid, and the episode leaves viewers wondering if the Bundy family will be able to pay it off.
