In the Married...with Children season 3 episode 10 titled I'll See You in Court, the Bundys are sued by their neighbors, the Rhoades, over a broken lawn mower. The Rhoades, who have been shown to be the Bundys' enemies since their introduction in the show, take legal action against Al and Peggy for damaging their lawn mower in retaliation for having thrown garbage on their lawn. The Rhoades' demands include the payment of $3,000 for the repair of the lawn mower as well as the installation of a fence separating their properties.
The episode opens with Al having turned his garage into a gym, which Peggy is not happy about since it means she has to park her car outside. We see Marcy Rhoades sneaking around Al's yard, putting up signs that read "this side illegal dumping - Bundy's only" to avoid further trash being dumped on their lawn. Seeing this, Al decides to prank the Rhoades by breaking their lawn mower in retaliation.
As a result, the Rhoades take legal action against the Bundys, and Al is served with a subpoena while he is working at the shoe store. Al tries to negotiate with them, offering to pay for the damages on the condition that the Rhoades remove their signs, but Marcy refuses the offer and continues to threaten the Bundys with legal action if they fail to comply with their demands.
Al and Peggy decide to represent themselves in court, hoping to save money on legal fees. They are confident that they will win the case, but things take a turn for the worse when Marcy's lawyer turns out to be Jefferson, Al's best friend and Marcy's husband. Despite being a seemingly incompetent lawyer, Jefferson successfully calls witnesses to the stand, including Bud and Kelly, who admit to dumping the trash on the Rhoades' lawn.
The case seems to be going in favor of the Rhoades, but Peggy pulls a surprise witness to the stand, namely Al's boss. His testimony regarding the lack of competence demonstrated by Jefferson in the workplace is enough to sway the verdict in favor of the Bundys.
Ultimately, the Bundys walk away victorious, having successfully defended themselves and saved themselves $3,000. Meanwhile, Marcy and Jefferson are left humiliated and embarrassed at the outcome of the case.
The episode concludes with Al and Peggy getting ready to celebrate their victory, with Al deciding to buy a steak and Peggy going to the classy restaurant, Pizza Whiz.
