Ep 18. The Great Escape

The Great Escape is the eighteenth episode of the second season of Married… with Children. The episode originally premiered on February 10, 1988, on FOX.

In this episode, Al (played by Ed O'Neill) is feeling trapped in his life and desperately needs a break. When Peggy (Katey Sagal) agrees to take the kids to visit her mother for the weekend, Al sees this as the perfect opportunity to escape for a fishing trip with his friends. However, his plans go awry when his friends cancel on him at the last minute and he is forced to go on the trip alone.

Meanwhile, Peggy is enjoying her own getaway with her mother, until she realizes that she forgot her favorite book at home. She calls Al to ask him to bring it to her, and he decides to turn his solo fishing trip into a romantic getaway with Peggy. However, things don't go as smoothly as planned when they both run into various obstacles along the way.

Back at home, Bud (David Faustino) and Kelly (Christina Applegate) are left alone with the house to themselves and see it as an opportunity to throw a massive party. However, they soon regret their decision when they realize how much work is involved in cleaning up after the guests.
