In episode 7 of Married at First Sight season 5, entitled "The In-laws," the newlyweds continue to navigate their marriages as they get closer to the halfway point of the experiment. With the honeymoon phase over, the couples must start to address some of the realities of their relationships, including their families.
For some of the couples, their in-laws prove to be a source of tension. Troy and Ashley clash over their different upbringings and how that might impact their future with each other. Similarly, Sheila and Nate struggle with how to handle their respective mothers, who have very different views on what it means to be a family.
Meanwhile, Cody and Danielle hit a rough patch when they realize they may not see eye-to-eye on some of the important decisions they'll have to make as a couple. With Danielle's sister also in town to put pressure on their relationship, Cody starts to feel like he's getting overwhelmed.
The episode also takes a deep dive into the relationship between Sonia and Nick, who seem to be struggling to connect on a deeper level. Nick admits that he's still not quite sure what Sonia wants from him, and Sonia worries that she's being too passive in their relationship. Can they find a way to bridge the gap and start to build a stronger bond?
As tensions rise and emotions run high, the couples turn to the experts for guidance and advice. With the end of the experiment looming in the distance, they know they need to work hard to make their marriages last. But can they find a way to overcome their differences and become the great love stories they all signed up for? Find out in episode 7 of Married at First Sight season 5.
