Marlon is an American sitcom that revolves around the life of Marlon Wayne, a divorced father of two, who tries to balance his professional life as an internet sensation and his personal life as a father. In season 2 episode 2, titled "Wingman," Marlon tries to help his friend and business partner, Stevie, get back into the dating world.
The episode begins with Marlon and Stevie hanging out at a bar, trying to pick up women, but failing miserably. Stevie is having trouble talking to women and is feeling discouraged. Marlon decides to help him and suggests they go on a "man date" to the beach. At the beach, Marlon tries to teach Stevie how to talk to women, but it doesn't go very well. Stevie gets nervous and ends up insulting the first woman he approaches.
Later that day, Marlon and Stevie go to a speed dating event to try their luck. Marlon is successful and gets a few dates, while Stevie gets none. Marlon takes it upon himself to act as Stevie's wingman and help him find a date. Marlon tries to help Stevie by giving him advice about how to approach women and what to say, but Stevie doesn't seem to be listening.
Marlon decides to take a different approach and tries to set Stevie up with his ex-wife, Ashley. Marlon thinks Ashley would be the perfect match for Stevie because she is smart, successful, and single. Marlon invites Ashley to dinner and invites Stevie under the pretense of a business meeting. Stevie is surprised to see Ashley there and is initially uncomfortable. Marlon leaves the room to make a phone call, giving Stevie and Ashley a chance to talk.
Stevie and Ashley have a lot in common and hit it off immediately. Marlon returns and is happy to see the two getting along. The three of them continue to talk and have drinks, and things start to get fuzzy. The next morning, Marlon realizes that he has a hangover and can't remember what happened the night before. He tries to piece together the events of the night and is scared to find out that he may have made a mistake.
Marlon invites Stevie over to discuss what happened the night before. Stevie tells Marlon that nothing happened between him and Ashley, and Marlon is relieved. However, Stevie tells Marlon that he has feelings for Ashley and that he wants to pursue a relationship with her. Marlon is shocked and doesn't know what to do. He doesn't want to see his friend get hurt, but he also doesn't want to get in the way of Stevie's happiness.
In the end, Marlon decides to step back and let Stevie pursue his relationship with Ashley. He realizes that he can't control what happens in his friend's love life and that it's important to let people make their own decisions. Marlon and Stevie remain friends and continue to work on their business ventures together.
In "Wingman," Marlon learns that sometimes the best thing you can do for your friends is to let them make their own mistakes and find their own happiness. The episode is full of laughs and heartwarming moments that will have you rooting for Marlon and his friends.
