In "The Face of Murder," the thirteenth episode of the first season of Man with a Camera, Mike Kovac, the freelance photographer, is invited to a party thrown by his newspaper's wealthy owner, Mr. Talton. The party is a high society event, featuring glamorous guests, lavish food, and expensive decor.
At the party, Mike meets Mr. Talton's beautiful and enigmatic daughter, Eve. She is guarded and aloof, but Mike is drawn to her anyway. As the party wears on, Mike and Eve venture outside to get some air and take photographs of the city skyline together.
Suddenly, they hear a scream. Rushing back inside, they find that a young woman has been murdered in one of the bedrooms. The police are called, and Mike finds himself embroiled in the investigation. He soon learns that the victim was a model who was hired to be a live mannequin for the Talton's department store.
The police quickly identify the prime suspect in the murder: a young man who was seen arguing with the victim shortly before her death. Mike, however, is not convinced of the suspect's guilt. He begins to investigate the murder on his own, taking photographs and talking to witnesses in order to uncover the truth.
As Mike delves deeper into the case, he begins to uncover a web of lies and deceit that has ensnared many of the party guests. Everyone seems to have a motive for the murder, and no one is above suspicion. Mike finds himself in danger as well, as the killer realizes that he is getting too close to the truth.
With the help of Eve and a few key allies, Mike races against time to uncover the killer's identity before he becomes the next victim. The investigation takes him from the glamorous world of high fashion and society parties to the seedy underbelly of the city, where drugs and prostitution are rampant.
As the tension builds and the stakes get higher, Mike finds himself face to face with the killer. In a dramatic confrontation, the truth is finally revealed and justice is served. In the end, Mike is left to reflect on the dark side of the high society lifestyle he has been photographing for so long.
