Ep 3. Goodbye Kitty

Hal and Lois discover that their beloved cat, Kitty, is gravely ill and must be put to sleep. Meanwhile, Malcolm and Reese try to sneak a peek at their Christmas presents and end up accidentally destroying them. Eventually, they come up with a plan to replace all the gifts before their parents find out. Meanwhile, Dewey becomes obsessed with a new toy and spends all his time playing with it, neglecting his schoolwork. As the family mourns the loss of their cat, they begin to reflect on their own mortality and the preciousness of life. In the end, they come together to celebrate what they have and mourn what they have lost.
