Arjuna and Lord Krishna continue their dialogue on the battlefield. Lord Krishna teaches Arjuna about the nature of the soul, the importance of maintaining a balanced mind, and the necessity of action. Arjuna is still hesitant about the impending battle, but Lord Krishna helps him understand that it is his duty to fight and that his actions will not lead to negative consequences if done for the right reasons.
Meanwhile, Drona leads the Kauravas in battle. He uses his war skills to give the Pandavas a tough fight. Bhima and Duryodhana continue their personal battle, each determined to come out victorious. Bhima manages to inflict severe damage on Duryodhana, but is ultimately unable to defeat him.
As the day comes to an end, both armies begin to pull back from the battlefield. The Pandavas gather and assess their losses. While they are downhearted about their fallen soldiers, they are nevertheless proud of their bravery and resolve to fight on. Yudhishthira, the eldest Pandava, decides to hold a funeral ceremony for their slain warriors, to honor their sacrifice.
The next day, the battle resumes with renewed energy. Drona uncovers a new weapon, the Narayanastra, which he uses against the Pandavas. The weapon proves to be incredibly powerful, forcing the Pandavas to retreat. Arjuna realizes that this weapon can only be countered by invoking the name of Lord Vishnu, and so he directs his allies to call out the deity's name in unison. The combined energy of their prayers neutralizes the weapon, saving the Pandavas from certain defeat.
As the battle rages on, Abhimanyu, Arjuna's son, seeks out a way to break through the Kaurava army's defenses. He manages to penetrate their formation but finds himself trapped on the inside, with no way out. Despite his bravery and skill in battle, Abhimanyu is ultimately slain by the Kauravas.
The episode ends with the Pandavas mourning Abhimanyu's loss and preparing for the next day of battle. The stakes are high, and the war shows no signs of abating.
