In episode 33 of Mahabharat, titled "The Disrobing of Draupadi," tensions between the Kauravas and Pandavas come to a head as the Pandavas lose everything in a rigged game of dice. As a result, the Kauravas attempt to strip Draupadi, the wife of the Pandavas, in front of the entire court.
The episode opens with Duryodhana, the eldest Kaurava, gloating over his win in the game of dice. He demands that Yudhishthira, the eldest Pandava, fulfill his promise and send Draupadi over to the Kauravas. Yudhishthira, bound by his word and honor, agrees and summons Draupadi to come to the court.
As Draupadi enters the court, she is confident and composed, but her demeanor quickly changes as she realizes what is about to happen. Duryodhana, Dushasana, and the other Kauravas begin to insult and accuse Draupadi, claiming that she is a whore and should be disrobed in public.
The other members of the court, including Bhishma, Drona, and Vidura, are appalled by the Kauravas' behavior, but are unable to stop them due to their loyalty to the royal family. Even Karna, the Pandavas' greatest enemy, is disgusted by the Kauravas' actions and attempts to reason with them, but to no avail.
Despite the odds stacked against her, Draupadi refuses to back down and instead appeals to the court for justice. She reminds them of her status as a princess and begs for mercy, but the Kauravas remain relentless. As they begin to physically pull at her clothing, Draupadi prays to Lord Krishna for help.
In response to her prayers, Lord Krishna miraculously extends the length of Draupadi's sari, preventing the Kauravas from stripping her completely. The Kauravas are humiliated and confused by this turn of events, and Draupadi is able to escape with her honor intact.
The episode ends with the Pandavas vowing revenge against the Kauravas for their dishonorable actions, setting the stage for the rest of the epic war.
