The episode 19 of Mahabharat season 1 picks up with Dronacharya holding a competitive test to evaluate the progress of his students in various combat skills. As the rivalry between the Kuru cousins increases, Dronacharya decides to add a special element to the competition - the ability to aim and hit a wooden bird hanging from a tree with a bow and arrow.

The competition intensifies as all the students get ready to showcase their archery skills. Arjun, being one of the best pupils of Dronacharya, is confident about his victory. However, as he prepares to take the shot, Dronacharya throws a surprise obstacle in his path. He asks Arjun to identify the target he has to hit.

To everyone’s surprise, Dronacharya reveals that the target Arjun needs to hit is not the wooden bird hung from the tree, but Dronacharya's own beloved son, Ashwatthama. This revelation stuns everyone, and Arjun finds himself in a moral dilemma. He is torn between his loyalty towards his guru and his own moral code.

As Arjun struggles with his thoughts, other students begin to take their shots. One by one, they fail to hit the target, and the competition becomes more intense. As the competition continues, Dronacharya's son Ashwatthama becomes increasingly impatient and frustrated. He questions the value of this competition and even insults his father for using him as a target.

The crucial moment arrives, and it is Arjun’s turn to take the shot. As he prepares his bow and arrow, he is initially hesitant, but then he remembers Lord Krishna's teachings about dharma and righteousness. He takes the shot and hits the bird, without causing any harm to Ashwatthama. The feat earns him the respect and admiration of both his guru and his cousins.

As the day ends, Duryodhana, the eldest of the Kuru brothers, feels humiliated and insulted by the defeat. He approaches his uncle, Shakuni, for guidance. Shakuni advises him to plot against the Pandavas and to never forget this day. This sets into motion a rivalry that eventually leads to the battle of Kurukshetra.

In conclusion, episode 19 of Mahabharat season 1 highlights the importance of morality and righteousness. It also establishes the rivalry between the Kuru cousins and sets the stage for the war that will decide the fate of the kingdom.
