Ep 9. A Runaway Fairy

  • November 5, 2005

The episode A Runaway Fairy is part of the first season of the show Magical DoReMi. The anime follows the adventures of three young girls, Doremi, Hazuki and Aiko, who discover they have magical powers and become witch apprentices. In this episode, the girls meet a new character, a fairy named Rere, who has run away from her home in the fairy world.

The episode starts with the girls hanging out at the Maho-do, the shop where Doremi's mother works and where they practice their magic. Suddenly, they hear a strange noise and find Rere hiding in a basket. Rere is a cute pink fairy with a flower on her head, but she is also sad and scared. The girls ask her what happened, and Rere explains that she ran away from the fairy world because of a problem she caused.

The girls feel sorry for Rere, and Hazuki decides to help her. Hazuki is the smartest and most responsible of the girls, so she takes Rere to her house to take care of her. Hazuki's parents are confused by the sudden arrival of a fairy, but they are used to their daughter's magic activities. Hazuki gives Rere some food and tries to make her feel comfortable, but Rere is still sad.

Meanwhile, Doremi and Aiko try to figure out what happened in the fairy world. They go to the library and look for books about fairies, but they can't find anything useful. They then decide to use their magic to travel to the fairy world, but they don't know the way. They end up in various strange places, including a desert, a jungle, and a snow-covered mountain, but they can't find the fairy world.

Back at Hazuki's house, Rere is feeling better, and she starts to tell Hazuki the story of what happened. Rere is a flower fairy, and her job is to make the flowers grow. One day, she was distracted and accidentally made the flowers grow too big, causing chaos in the fairy world. The other fairies were angry with her, and Rere felt terrible for causing trouble. She didn't know what to do, so she ran away.

Hazuki listens to Rere's story and empathizes with her. She tells Rere that she shouldn't feel bad and that everyone makes mistakes. Hazuki then comes up with a plan to help Rere. She decides to take her to the human world, where there are lots of flowers and no fairies. Rere can practice her job there without causing any trouble.

Doremi and Aiko finally make it back to the Maho-do, exhausted and discouraged. They explain to Hazuki what happened and ask if they found the fairy world. Hazuki tells them that they didn't, but that she has a plan to help Rere. Meanwhile, Rere is excited to go to the human world and see all the flowers.

The girls use their magic to create a portal, and they travel to the human world with Rere. They arrive in a park that is full of flowers, and Rere is amazed. Hazuki tells Rere that she can stay there and help the flowers grow, and Rere is happy. Hazuki reminds Rere that she shouldn't be afraid of making mistakes, and that she can always ask for help if she needs it.

The episode ends with the girls saying goodbye to Rere and promising to visit her in the human world. They return to the Maho-do, where Doremi's mother asks them where they were. The girls say they were on an adventure, but they don't tell her about Rere. The episode ends with the girls happy and content, knowing that they helped a friend in need.
