Madeline and the other girls of the Old House in Paris are excitedly preparing for Easter, and the highlight of their festivities is the creation of their Easter bonnets. Madeline, however, is dismayed to learn that she lacks the ribbon she needs to complete her bonnet.
In search of the missing ribbon, Madeline sets out into the streets of Paris, where she encounters a troupe of street performers who have just lost their own crucial prop: a bottle of bubbles for their act. Seeing the disappointment on the performers' faces, Madeline selflessly offers to trade her precious ribbon for their bottle, knowing that it will mean more to them than it does to her.
As a result of Madeline's generosity, the performers are finally able to put on their show and bring joy to the crowds of Paris, and Madeline discovers that the true meaning of Easter is about giving and love.
