Four middle-aged friends, Baxter, Joel, Cobi, and Gus, reunite in Belize to visit their now wealthy friend, Milo. The trip takes an unexpected turn when Milo's mysterious and dangerous business dealings put the group in danger. In season 1 episode 3, "Well," the group begins to feel the pressure of their situation and they start to turn on each other.
The episode opens with the four friends sitting at a table discussing their plan to rob a police station. Tensions are high as it becomes apparent that each member of the group has a different view on how to execute the plan. Milo is insistent that they move forward with the robbery, but the others are hesitant and begin to question the morality of their actions.
Meanwhile, tensions are also brewing between Cobi and his wife, who is still back in the United States. Cobi continues to ignore her calls, and the group begins to speculate on the state of their relationship. This tension culminates in a heated argument between Cobi and Joel, who accuses Cobi of being selfish and only caring about his own desires.
As the group begins to plan the robbery, they realize that they are in over their heads. None of them have any experience with this sort of thing, and they quickly become overwhelmed by the amount of preparation that is required. Joel begins to crack under the pressure and starts to doubt the entire plan.
The tension comes to a head during a confrontation between Joel and Milo. Joel accuses Milo of putting their lives in danger and demands to know more about his secretive business dealings. Milo becomes defensive and insists that everything he is doing is to protect the group. The argument ends with Joel storming out of the room and the group once again questioning the morality of their actions.
Throughout the episode, the group also deals with the physical toll that their situation is taking on them. They are constantly on edge, unable to sleep, and running low on supplies. This leads to several hallucinations and visions, including a bizarre encounter with a local well.
As the episode comes to a close, the group begins to realize that they are in way over their heads. They are faced with the harsh reality that their situation is far more dangerous than they originally anticipated, and they begin to wonder if they will ever be able to make it out alive.
Overall, "Well" is a tense and suspenseful episode that highlights the deteriorating mental state of the group. It also sets the stage for the rest of the season, as the friends must navigate their way through a dangerous world of crime and corruption.
