Love Your Garden is a British television program that airs on ITV. Hosted by Alan Titchmarsh, the show follows a team of horticultural and outdoor design experts as they travel across the UK to transform gardens for deserving individuals. The aim of the show is to create beautiful outdoor spaces that will enhance the quality of life for their owners.
In season 3, episode 2, titled "The Holiday Oasis," the team visits an adventurous family in the seaside town of Bournemouth. The family consists of parents Becky and Will and their three young children, who love nothing more than spending time outdoors. However, the family's small and uninspiring garden has been neglected for years, and they are in desperate need of a space that can accommodate their active lifestyle.
In response to the family's request for a garden that would feel like a "holiday oasis," Alan and his team set out to create a space that would be both functional and visually stunning. With the help of landscape designer Katie Rushworth and builder David Dodd, they set about transforming the garden from a drab and lifeless space into a vibrant and dynamic outdoor area.
The team began by removing the old and tired lawn and replacing it with lush, green artificial turf that would be more durable and easier to maintain. They also installed an impressive climbing wall, which would be perfect for the family's adventurous spirit. To create a focal point in the garden, the team added a stunning water feature, complete with a large stone basin and a cascading waterfall.
With the hard landscaping complete, the focus then turned to the planting scheme. Working with a bright and bold color palette, Katie selected a range of plants that would provide year-round interest and bring the garden to life. From striking red-hot pokers and towering pampas grasses to delicate Allium bulbs and fragrant lavender, the planting scheme was a riot of color and texture.
To really complete the holiday feel, the team added a number of unique features to the garden. A large pizza oven was installed, providing the family with a fun and sociable way to cook and eat outdoors. They also added a sunken trampoline, which would be perfect for the children to play on and would not take up too much space.
As always, Alan Titchmarsh was on hand to offer his horticultural expertise and lend a hand where needed. He also took the time to chat with the family and learn more about their passions and interests. It was clear to see that having a garden that could accommodate their love of adventure and the great outdoors was incredibly important to them.
Overall, Love Your Garden season 3 episode 2 was a fantastic watch. The team's transformation of the garden was nothing short of spectacular, and it was clear to see how much the new space meant to the family. With its vibrant planting, unique features, and functional design, the garden was a true holiday oasis, and a space that the family could enjoy for years to come.
