Ep 7. Something I've Been Holding Back and Can Only Say to You

On episode 7 of Love Alarm season 1, titled “Something I’ve Been Holding Back and Can Only Say to You,” we see the tangled web that Kim Jojo, Hwang Sun-oh, and Lee Hye-yeong have weaved, come apart piece by piece.

Kim Jojo is in a dilemma as Hwang Sun-oh announces that he will be finishing school the following day and would love to hang out with her after he is done with his classes. She is caught between her feelings for Sun-oh and her guilt for having hurt Hye-yeong in the past.

Hye-yeong, on the other hand, is struggling with his own feelings towards Jojo. He still has feelings for her and is starting to notice that Sun-oh has been spending a lot of time with her. He tries to speak to Jojo and understand her better, but every time he tries, he is met with resistance.

Meanwhile, Sun-oh, who is still not aware of Hye-yeong’s feelings towards Jojo, is planning a surprise for her. He convinces his father to rent out an amusement park for the two of them and invites her there.

As the day progresses, we see the theme park scenes that are shot in a carnival-like atmosphere with the bright colors, rides, and games all around. Sun-oh and Jojo spend a beautiful day together, going on rides, sharing cotton candy and just enjoying being in each other’s company.

It is during these moments, that Sun-oh gets the courage to tell Jojo how much he likes her. But, he is met with an unexpected response when she tells him that she cannot reciprocate his feelings. Sun-oh is devastated, having already planned out their future together, and feeling like he has been led on.

Their day together ends awkwardly, and they both go their separate ways. Jojo, feeling dejected, speaks to her friend on the phone, and it is revealed that she has been carrying a guilt all along. We see a flashback of her conversation with Sun-oh when she asks him if he likes her, and he tells her that he does. She tells him that she likes him too, but the Love Alarm app did not ring for her at that time, leading to Sun-oh feeling like he was not good enough for her.

Jojo tries to reach out to Hye-yeong, but he is still hurting from her previous actions. He finally agrees to meet with her, but it is revealed that he already knows that Jojo and Sun-oh spent the day together. Jojo tries to explain why she went, but Hye-yeong is hurt that she did not tell him about it.

The episode ends with Jojo sitting at home, looking at her Love Alarm app, which never rang when Hye-yeong was around. This leaves her wondering whether her heart truly belongs to Sun-oh or if it is simply a result of the Love Alarm app.

Overall, “Something I’ve Been Holding Back and Can Only Say to You” is an emotionally charged episode that explores the complexity of human relationships. The episode brings to the forefront the harsh realities of the Love Alarm app and how it can impact the way we view love and relationships.
