There's Nothing Anyone Can Do When You Like Someone is the second episode of Love Alarm season 1. The plot picks up from where the first episode left off, with Kim Jojo confronting Hwang Sun-Oh about his involvement in the Love Alarm app triggering. Jojo's disbelief in the app's ability to predict love has Sun-Oh questioning his own feelings, leading to an eventual confrontation between the two. Sun-Oh asks Jojo to confirm whether her Love Alarm app rang for him – something that he is convinced of but Jojo refutes.
The rest of the episode follows the aftermath of this confrontation. Sun-Oh struggles to come to terms with his feelings for Jojo and his growing unease regarding the app. His best friend, Lee Hee-Yeong, becomes privy to Sun-Oh's internal struggle and tries to support him in whatever way he can. After discussing the issue at length, Hee-Yeong acknowledges that Sun-Oh's feelings may have less to do with Jojo and more to do with the idea of finding true love.
Meanwhile, Jojo continues to face the challenges of being a Love Alarm user. She avoids going to school because of the attention the app garners, but has to eventually attend the opening ceremony. At the ceremony, she is surrounded by students and reporters, all of whom demand a response from her about the app. A particularly persistent reporter confronts her, asking Jojo if she has ever been in love and whether she thinks the app accurately predicts it. Jojo is visibly uncomfortable and begins to leave, but not before the reporter snaps a photo of her.
Jojo's troubles are compounded when one of her classmates, Gul-mi, begins to bully her. Gul-mi is a popular girl who is annoyed by the attention Jojo is receiving because of the Love Alarm app. Gul-mi tries to embarrass Jojo at every opportunity, from taking photos of her sleeping to sabotaging her food. Jojo is determined to avoid confrontation, but her friend Park Gul-mi urges her to fight back.
The episode concludes with Sun-Oh, Hee-Yeong and Jojo separately reflecting on their feelings about the app and whether it is a force for good or bad. Sun-Oh is beginning to doubt the app's ability to predict love, while Hee-Yeong thinks that it might not be such a bad thing after all. Jojo, on the other hand, seems to be unsure of how she feels about the app and the attention it brings.
Overall, There's Nothing Anyone Can Do When You Like Someone is a character-driven episode that focuses on the growing relationship between Jojo, Sun-Oh and Hee-Yeong, as well as the impact of the Love Alarm app on their lives. The episode effectively sets the stage for future conflicts and explores some of the deeper themes and issues that the show will touch on.
