In the second part of the season premiere of Lost’s sixth and final season, titled “LA X, Part 2,” the alternate timeline continues to explore what might have happened had Oceanic 815 not crashed on the island.
Jack, Kate, and Hurley find themselves in the same Los Angeles airport terminal but soon realize that they are on different paths in life, with Jack experiencing personal turmoil, Kate ducking from authorities, and Hurley still winning the lottery. Meanwhile, Sayid is being transported by police, and upon being rescued by his brother, he must come to terms with the fact that he is now a hardened killer.
In the island timeline, the aftermath of the hydrogen bomb detonation leaves the island and its inhabitants in chaos. While Sawyer and Juliet initially appear to be the only survivors, they soon encounter Jin, who is separated from Sun in the wreckage of the submarine. The three set out to find the other survivors but are forced to contend with a community of new island inhabitants led by a mysterious woman named Ilana.
Back in the alternate timeline, Locke continues to navigate the world with his new lease on life after being cured of his paralysis. He attends a conference for his construction company, where he reconnects with Helen and is offered a job by Ben. However, he soon finds himself on a path that may intersect with the lives of other survivors from the island.
As the two timelines progress, it becomes clear that the characters’ fates are intrinsically linked, and that the choices they make in one world may have ripple effects in the other. “LA X, Part 2” sets the stage for the final season of Lost, promising to unravel the mysteries that have kept viewers enthralled for five seasons.
