Ep 1. LA X, Part 1

After the dramatic conclusion of season five, Lost returns for its final season with "LA X, Part 1." The episode opens in an alternate reality, seemingly unrelated to the previous five seasons. Miles is working as a security guard at the airport, where he meets Hurley. They are both boarding Oceanic Flight 815, which seems to be a routine flight until turbulence hits and the plane experiences a traumatic crash.

The story then jumps back to the present day, where the survivors of Oceanic 815 are scattered across the island. For the first time, we see all of our beloved characters in one place since the season three finale. Meanwhile, in the temple, Jin is desperate to find Sun, who was not on the plane with the other survivors. He is brought before the Others, who seem to be running the temple. They are demanding to know who he is and why he is there, but before he can answer, they start to perform a ritual on him.

The episode takes a thrilling turn when a mysterious man shows up on the beach. He introduces himself as Jacob and tells Hurley and Jack that they have a job to do. He wants them to help protect the island from an unknown entity that is trying to destroy it. While Jack is skeptical, Hurley is eager to help and agrees to Jacob's task.

The episode ends with a shocking twist that sets the stage for the rest of the season. The alternate reality that was introduced at the beginning of the episode is revealed to be a parallel universe. In this universe, Oceanic Flight 815 never crashed, and some of the characters have drastically different lives. For example, Hurley is a successful businessman, and Jack has a son.
