Loot is a comedy series created by Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard that premiered on Apple TV+ in 2022. The show stars Maya Rudolph as Molly Novak, a billionaire who has a seemingly perfect life with a private jet, multiple mansions, and a devoted husband John, played by Adam Scott. However, when Molly discovers that John has been cheating on her, her world unravels. She divorces him and tries to reclaim her life by becoming involved with her charitable foundation, to which she had previously paid little attention.

Molly realizes she knows very little about the foundation she funds. She meets the foundation's director Sofia Salinas, played by Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, who educates Molly about the organization's work helping disenfranchised people and communities. Though clumsy in connecting with the foundation at first, Molly finds purpose in developing personal relationships with the people the foundation serves. She also starts to bond with her executive assistant Arthur, played by Ron Funches, who loyally supports Molly through her many missteps and faux pas.

A major theme of Loot is Molly's journey to finding fulfillment outside of her relationship with John and privileged lifestyle. She reconnects with her estranged father Howard, played by Joel Kim Booster, and starts to appreciate the simple joys of everyday life that her wealth has enabled her to take for granted. Molly develops heartfelt relationships with Sofia, Arthur and others at the foundation who see her humanity behind her billionaire status.

With its mix of workplace comedy, family drama and social commentary, Loot pokes fun at the elite while finding redeeming qualities in its flawed protagonist Molly. Rudolph's performance anchors the show with comedic timing and emotional depth.
