The adventure takes place during the American Revolution, where Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam are caught up in the middle of a battle at Bunker Hill. Bugs has arrived in the area to look for his ancestor, who he believes fought in the battle, while Yosemite has been sent there by the British army to capture Bugs and turn him over as a spy.
The episode begins with Bugs Bunny arriving at Bunker Hill, where he quickly realizes he is in the middle of a battle. He decides to take cover in a nearby bunker, where he meets up with a group of American soldiers. They mistake him for a soldier and ask him to help them fight the British, but Bugs is not interested in getting involved in the war. He just wants to find his ancestor's grave, which he believes is located near the battle site.
As Bugs leaves the bunker to search for the grave, he is spotted by Yosemite Sam, who immediately recognizes him as a wanted spy. Yosemite pursues Bugs across the battlefield, shooting at him with his musket and trying to capture him.
What follows is a classic game of cat and mouse, with Yosemite Sam trying to catch Bugs Bunny and Bugs outsmarting him at every turn. Bugs uses his wits and quick thinking to escape Yosemite's clutches, using everything from disguises, traps and distractions to outmaneuver the hapless British soldier.
As the battle rages on around them, Bugs and Yosemite continue their chase, with Yosemite getting more and more frustrated at his inability to capture Bugs. Meanwhile, Bugs uses the chaos of the battle to his advantage, using exploding cannonballs and other weapons to thwart Yosemite's pursuit.
The episode reaches its climax when Bugs discovers the grave of his ancestor, which turns out to be located right in the middle of the battlefield. Yosemite, who has finally caught up with Bugs, is about to capture him when Bugs reveals that the grave belongs to his ancestor, who was a brave American soldier fighting for freedom.
Moved by Bugs' speech and patriotic spirit, Yosemite decides to let Bugs go free, acknowledging that even though they may be on opposite sides of the war, they can still respect each other's beliefs and country. Bugs thanks Yosemite for his understanding, and they part ways as the battle rages on around them.
The episode ends with Bugs returning to the bunker, where the American soldiers congratulate him on his bravery and give him a medal for his service. Bugs, true to form, humbly accepts the medal but insists that he was just doing what any American would do in a time of war.
