Ep 29. To Hare is Human

  • December 15, 1956

To Hare is Human is a classic episode of the Looney Tunes series, which was first broadcasted on television in 1956. The episode revolves around two of the most popular characters of the series, Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam.

The episode begins with Yosemite Sam, the cowboy, riding in the wild west when he spots Bugs Bunny munching on a carrot. Sam aims his gun at the bunny, but instead of shooting him, he decides to capture him alive and sell him to the highest bidder. Bugs Bunny, who is always up for a challenge, agrees to play along and let himself get caught.

Sam takes Bugs Bunny back to his hideout and locks him up in a wooden crate. Bugs, being the smart and cunning rabbit that he is, quickly escapes and decides to play a prank on Sam. He disguises himself as a genie with a lamp and tricks Sam into thinking that he has found a magical artifact that grants wishes. Sam rubs the lamp and wishes for a bunch of gold ornaments, but Bugs turns his wish into a trap.

After getting trapped in his own wish, Sam gets angry and decides to take revenge on Bugs by turning him in for a bounty. When he brings Bugs to the sheriff's office, he finds out that the bounty has been withdrawn because the laws have changed, and it's no longer legal to hunt rabbits. Sam, frustrated with his plan failing, seeks advice from a wise old Indian.

The Indian tells Sam that the only way to beat Bugs is to outsmart him. With this in mind, Sam hatches a new plan. He dresses up as a rabbit and hops around, luring Bugs into a trap. Bugs falls for it and gets caught in a snare. Sam captures him and makes him his prisoner.

Sam takes Bugs to the king's palace to collect the reward for capturing a rabbit. However, the king is unimpressed and reveals that his kingdom is overrun with rabbits, and what he really needs are hunters to control the rabbit population. He thanks Sam and Bugs Bunny for their efforts and instructs them to get rid of the rabbits.

Sam and Bugs team up to get rid of the rabbits, but things go awry when they come face to face with a giant rabbit. The rabbit chases after them, and they barely manage to escape in a barrel. They eventually end up in a chocolate factory where they have a comical encounter with a batch of melted chocolate.

The episode ends with Sam and Bugs Bunny both agreeing to forget their feud and be friends. Sam realizes that even though he may not be able to outsmart Bugs, he enjoys his company and the adventures they have together.

In conclusion, To Hare is Human is a hilarious and entertaining episode of Looney Tunes that showcases the witty humor and clever antics of Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. It is a must-watch for fans of the series and anyone looking for a good laugh.
