Ep 21. Slap-hoppy Mouse
- September 1, 1956
In the episode Slap-hoppy Mouse, viewers follow the classic rivalry between the lovable goofball cat Sylvester and the quick-witted mouse Speedy Gonzales. The episode starts with Sylvester attempting to catch Speedy as he runs down the street with a large chunk of cheese in hand. However, Speedy quickly outwits Sylvester, with his signature catchphrase "Andale! Andale! Arriba! Arriba!" As the chase continues, the two adversaries run through various obstacles, including a construction site and a water fountain. Sylvester even tries to trap Speedy in a lunchbox and a glass jar, but once again his efforts are thwarted by the speedy mouse. The real twist in this episode, however, comes when Sylvester disguises himself as a Mexican revolutionary named "Señor Gruesome". The plan seems to work at first, as Speedy is caught off guard by the disguise and Sylvester is able to capture him. However, when Sylvester tries to make off with the cheese, he accidentally trips and is knocked unconscious. Speedy, never one to miss a beat, quickly grabs the cheese and makes his escape while Sylvester is still down. When Sylvester wakes up, he is confused as to what happened, but ultimately accepts his loss and returns home empty-handed. Overall, Slap-hoppy Mouse is a humorous and entertaining episode that showcases the classic Looney Tunes characters in all their slapstick glory.
