  • May 6, 1950

In the Looney Tunes season 1950 episode 11, titled "The Leghorn Blows at Midnight," we find ourselves in Foghorn Leghorn's barnyard at midnight. Foghorn, the southern-accented rooster, is having trouble getting any sleep because of the sound of a saxophone playing in the distance. He decides to investigate and finds out that the saxophone is being played by a little boy named Willy, who is practicing to audition for a radio show. Foghorn tells Willy to quiet down, and the boy agrees to do so.

Trying to get back to sleep, Foghorn notices that the clock reads midnight, and the Leghorn Blows at Midnight, a long-standing tradition in the barnyard, is about to take place. Foghorn gets excited as he prepares to blow the whistle, but when he does, it doesn't make a sound. Suddenly, a voice shouts out from the darkness, saying that the whistle is broken, and only a chicken can fix it. Foghorn jumps at the chance to prove his value and sets out to find the chicken who can fix the whistle.

As he searches for the chicken, Foghorn encounters various hilarious and dangerous situations. He ends up in a room full of cuckoo clocks and almost gets attacked by a bear before finally finding the chicken he was looking for. But when they get back to the barnyard, they discover that someone has stolen the whistle. All the animals in the barnyard are distraught, and it's up to Foghorn to save the Leghorn Blows at Midnight ceremony.

Foghorn devises a plan to catch the thief, and with the help of the other animals, they lay a trap to catch the culprit. The thief ends up being none other than Willy, the little boy playing saxophone earlier. He reveals that he stole the whistle because he wanted to audition for the radio show, and he thought Foghorn would never let him use it. Foghorn forgives the boy and tells him he can audition on his radio show if he fixes the whistle, which he does.

The episode concludes with Willy playing his saxophone on the radio show, and the entire barnyard celebrating the success of the Leghorn Blows at Midnight ceremony. Foghorn is proud of himself for being a hero, fixing the whistle, and helping Willy achieve his dreams.

Overall, "The Leghorn Blows at Midnight" is a hilarious, action-packed episode of Looney Tunes that showcases the lovable and charismatic character of Foghorn Leghorn. Through his adventures, we see his determination, smarts, and his willingness to help others. This episode is a must-watch for any Looney Tunes fan.
