In the Season 6 premiere of Long Lost Family, entitled "Why Couldn't They Raise Us?", host Chris Jacobs and co-host Lisa Joyner assist two individuals in their search for their biological families. First, viewers meet Denise, who is seeking information on her birth parents. After being taken in by her great-grandparents and separated from her siblings, Denise has spent her entire life wondering where she came from. With the help of a DNA test and genealogist Dr. Kenyatta D. Berry, Denise is able to uncover information about her father, who passed away from cancer. However, her search for her birth mother remains unresolved.
Next, viewers meet Paul, who was adopted at the age of 8 after living in various foster homes. He discovers that his birth father was an abusive, alcoholic, but his search for his birth mother leads him on a journey filled with plenty of twists and turns. Along the way, Paul meets with a private investigator named Pam, who provides him with crucial information about his maternal family.
Both of these stories are intertwined with emotional reunions, familial discoveries, and heartwarming moments. Despite facing obstacles throughout their search, Denise and Paul remain determined to uncover the truth about their pasts. "Why Couldn't They Raise Us?" serves as a reminder of the power of hope and perseverance in the face of adversity.
