In Lone Star Law season 4 episode 2, titled "Back Road Bait," we follow the Texas game wardens as they patrol the back roads and waterways of the state to enforce hunting and fishing regulations.
The first scene takes us to Lake Conroe, where Game Warden Scheffel meets with a group of fishermen who have been caught using illegal bait. The wardens have received a tip about the fishermen using live bait, which is prohibited in the lake. The fishermen initially deny using live bait, but after a thorough search of their vehicle, the wardens find evidence of live bait and hand out citations.
Next, the wardens head to a remote area in the woods to investigate a complaint of illegal hunting activities. They find a group of hunters who have set up a camp and are drinking alcohol while hunting. The wardens quickly discover that the hunters have also been hunting on private property without permission. After issuing several citations, the wardens confiscate the hunters' firearms and gear until they can retrieve the necessary permits.
Later in the episode, Game Warden Richards responds to a call from a concerned citizen regarding a deer that has been hit by a car. Upon arrival, Richards discovers that the deer is still alive, but injured, and decides to put it down in a humane manner. The wardens take the opportunity to educate the drivers passing by on the importance of taking extra precautions while driving in areas with a large population of wildlife.
In another scene, Game Wardens Gael and Roraback investigate a property where a report has been received about an alligator attack. The wardens find evidence of an alligator on the property and set up a trap to catch the predator. The trap is checked regularly until the alligator is caught and relocated to a safer area.
The final scene takes us to Lake Lewisville, where Game Wardens give a safety inspection to a group of boaters before they hit the water. The wardens check for proper life jackets, fire extinguishers, and other required equipment. They also remind the boaters about the speed limit and the importance of staying sober while operating a boat.
Overall, "Back Road Bait" highlights the important role that Texas game wardens play in protecting the state's natural resources and enforcing hunting and fishing regulations. The episode shows the wardens dealing with a variety of situations, from illegal bait use to illegal hunting activities and alligator attacks. It also emphasizes the importance of education and safety when it comes to wildlife conservation.
