London Hospital is a British show that has only two short seasons, and debuted in 2006. It takes place a century earlier in the royal London hospital. The show is centered around romances of the hospital doctors and surgeons, and the cases that come in and out of the hospital. It's a romance drama that appeared on BBC.
Despite being centered around the patients that inhibit the hospital, some of the main characters include Dr. James Walton, a nurse named Ida, and Sydney Holland who happens to be in charge of the finances of the hospital. The show informs and educates the viewers of the different diseases that plagued London during the 1900s. Some of these diseases included Tuberculosis, usually called TB for short or known as Consumption, Polio, and Pneumonia, being the three most fatal diseases during that era.
Some of the problems follow the dilemma of Ida and James's romance, both are co=workers and want to get married, but since it is illegal to work together and be romantically involved, they have to choose between their jobs or their love for one another. Also, there is Sydney's incapability to raise funds for the hospital, which leaves him unsure if he can keep the hospital up and running with such little money to get the items they need.
The show is between 44 and 46 minutes long, the rest of the time being taken up by commercials. It debuted on the BBC channel during the spring season, March 1, 2006 and ended during the middle of summer, July 18, 2009. The last episode consists of drama and twists, leaving viewers to guess if some of the characters are clean from drugs, if relationships will fail or make it through tough trials. All the staff struggle to save burn victims, who are children that were working in a sweat shop and living there when their place of residence went up in flames during the middle of the night. The doctors race against time to try to save these children from death.
