As Queen Latifah and her friends navigate their way through life in the big city, they find themselves facing new challenges and learning more about themselves and the world around them in every episode of Living Single. In season 1 episode 26, entitled "She Ain't Heavy, She's My Mother," the focus is on Regine, as she deals with some unexpected news from her mother.

Regine's mother, Laverne, comes to visit her daughter in New York City, and immediately starts to cause some tension in Regine's already stressful life. Laverne is unhappy with the apartment that Regine shares with her roommates and is even more unhappy with Regine's job as a make-up artist. Regine tries to brush off her mother's criticisms, but they start to build up over time.

Meanwhile, Khadijah is struggling to keep her magazine, Flavor, afloat, and is starting to have doubts about whether she has what it takes to make it as a successful entrepreneur. Over at the law firm, Max is dealing with a difficult client, and is starting to feel like she might not be cut out for the cutthroat world of corporate law.

As tensions rise between Regine and her mother, the rest of the gang tries to keep the peace. Sinclair invites Laverne to stay with her and Overton, thinking that she might be able to offer the older woman some perspective on life in the city. Overton, however, has his own issues to deal with, as he tries to find a way to keep the apartment building he manages from being sold to a developer.

As the episode progresses, Regine and Laverne continue to clash over everything from Regine's wardrobe to her choice in friends. When Laverne falls ill, however, Regine starts to see her in a new light, and begins to appreciate the sacrifices that her mother has made for her over the years.

Overall, "She Ain't Heavy, She's My Mother" is a touching episode that explores the complicated relationships between mothers and daughters, and the challenges that come with growing up and forging one's own path in life. With its mix of humor and heart, it's a fitting end to the show's first season, and sets the stage for even more drama and laughs to come in the episodes ahead.
