After struggling for months to keep her blind school afloat, Mary is overjoyed to receive a financial donation from a wealthy benefactor. But her elation is short-lived when she learns that the donor, a local businessman, wants something in return. He insists that Mary enroll his unruly son in the school, despite the fact that the boy shows no interest in learning and poses a threat to the safety of the other students. As Mary struggles with her conscience and her desire to keep the school running, she seeks advice from her colleagues, but finds herself at odds with even her closest allies. Meanwhile, Laura and Albert team up to build a treehouse and encounter their own challenges as they learn to work together and trust one another. As tensions mount and loyalties are tested, the residents of Walnut Grove must come together to find a way forward that honors their values and respects their collective spirit.
