Ep 18. The Sound of Children

In "The Sound of Children," the fifth season, eighteenth episode of Little House on the Prairie, the town of Walnut Grove is preparing for a grand event: the opening of a new school. As the day of the opening approaches, everyone is busy with preparations, and eager children can't wait to start learning.

As the children continue to skip school, their grades start to suffer. Eventually, Charles Ingalls intervenes and convinces Carl to attend school. With Carl's help, the children learn the importance of education and the value of learning. They come to realize that music can only enrich their lives if they have a solid foundation in reading, writing, and arithmetic.

Meanwhile, Mr. Edwards is busy with his own dilemma. He has grown tired of constantly being on the move as a wanderer and is looking for a permanent home. He thinks he may have found it in Walnut Grove, but his attempts at settling down don't go as planned.
