Following the dramatic events of the season 6 premiere, Line of Duty returns with another gripping episode that sees the AC-12 team digging deeper into the murder investigation that has rocked their world. The episode opens on DC Ryan Pilkington, who we know from season 5 is working undercover for the OCG, being given instructions to infiltrate the police force.
Meanwhile, AC-12 is still focused on their investigation into the murder of journalist Gail Vella, and a new piece of evidence leads them to question a member of the organized crime group (OCG) who may have been involved. DI Kate Fleming is tasked with interviewing the suspect, and she uses her trademark technique of building a rapport with him in order to gain his trust and hopefully extract some information.
As the team continues to pore over the evidence, they begin to uncover a web of corruption that goes far beyond the OCG and implicates some high-level police officers. The pressure is on for the team to solve the case, but the deeper they dig, the more dangerous it becomes.
Meanwhile, we see DI Steve Arnott struggling with addiction once again, as he tries to manage his pain without resorting to the prescription drugs that nearly destroyed his career in the past. It's clear that he's wrestling with some personal demons, and it remains to be seen how this will affect his work on the case.
As the episode draws to a close, we're left with more questions than answers. Who is really behind the murder of Gail Vella? What is the true extent of the corruption within the police force? And can AC-12 stay one step ahead of the OCG before it's too late?
Overall, Line of Duty season 6 episode 2 delivers another thrilling chapter in the ongoing saga of AC-12, with plenty of twists and turns to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. With some of the series' most beloved characters facing some serious challenges both professionally and personally, it's shaping up to be another explosive season.
