Tony Sirico guest stars in this episode of Lilyhammer, titled "The Mind is Like a Monkey." Johnny becomes a bit paranoid and hires a private investigator to keep an eye on his wife, Sigrid. Meanwhile, Frank is still dealing with his past in New York and is having trouble accepting his current life in Norway. His struggle becomes even more difficult when he is contacted by a long-lost love from his past. Jan finally decides to propose to Randi, but he's not sure if she feels the same way about him.
The episode opens with Johnny sitting in his car, watching his wife, Sigrid, through binoculars. He's convinced that she's cheating on him and wants to catch her in the act. He decides to hire a private investigator to follow her around and report back to him. The investigator, played by Tony Sirico, is a gruff, no-nonsense guy who takes his job very seriously. He sets up surveillance on Sigrid and reports back to Johnny with his findings.
Meanwhile, Frank is still haunted by his past in New York. He's been trying to come to terms with the fact that he's now living in Norway and has left his old life behind. But he's finding it harder and harder to let go. When he receives a phone call from a long-lost love from his past, he's forced to confront his feelings head-on. He wonders whether he made the right decision by leaving New York and whether he can truly be happy in Norway.
Jan, on the other hand, is feeling quite confident and happy in his relationship with Randi. He's decided to propose to her, but he's a bit nervous about how she'll react. He's not sure if she feels the same way about him and worries that he might be moving too fast. He consults with Tore and Roar, who do their best to offer him advice and encouragement. Finally, Jan decides to take the plunge and proposes to Randi.
Throughout the episode, the theme of the mind being like a monkey comes up repeatedly. Torgeir tells a story about how his mind was once like a monkey, jumping from thought to thought, until he learned to calm it down. The private investigator tells Johnny that the mind is like a monkey, always grasping for the next branch. And Frank muses on the idea that perhaps his own mind is like a monkey, unable to let go of the past and focus on the present.
As the episode comes to a close, we're left wondering whether Johnny's suspicions about Sigrid are unfounded or whether she really is up to something. We see Frank struggling with his emotions as he tries to decide whether to reconnect with his old flame or focus on his life in Norway. And we're left wondering whether Randi will say yes to Jan's proposal. Overall, "The Mind is Like a Monkey" is a thought-provoking episode that explores the themes of love, jealousy, and the struggle to let go of the past.
