In Leverage season 5 episode 8 titled "The Broken Wing Job," the team is tasked with helping a veteran who has been scammed by a crooked construction company. Chris, the veteran, did some work for the company only to find out that they had no intention of paying him once the work was completed. He is left with a broken wing and a lot of medical bills, which he cannot afford to pay.
When Chris approaches the team, they begin to investigate the construction company and discover a web of corruption and deceit. They find out that the owners of the company are involved in numerous fraudulent activities, including stealing from their own employees. The team decides to take on the construction company and help Chris get the money he deserves.
As always, the team has a plan. Sophie sets up a fake charity that the construction company will want to donate to in order to gain some good publicity. Eliot poses as a construction worker and finds himself on the same job site as the company, allowing him to get close to the owners. The team brings in their own construction crew to complete the job that Chris had started, and they make sure that the job is done perfectly.
Their plan seems to be working until the company's security team discovers their true motives. Things get heated as both sides go head to head, with the team fighting for justice and the construction company fighting to protect their reputation. In the end, the team comes out on top, and Chris finally receives the money he deserves.
While the main focus of the episode is the construction company and the team's efforts to bring them to justice, there are also some interesting developments between the members of the team themselves. Parker is struggling with her role on the team and her relationship with Hardison, while Nate is dealing with some personal demons of his own. These subplots add depth to the characters and make the episode more than just a simple heist story.
Overall, "The Broken Wing Job" is a solid episode of Leverage that combines the usual heist elements with some interesting character development. The team is as clever and resourceful as ever, and the bad guys are suitably slimy and deserving of their comeuppance. It's a satisfying episode both for fans of the show and for those who enjoy a good caper story.
