In the second episode of Leverage: Redemption season 1, titled "The Panamanian Monkeys Job," the team sets its sights on a corrupt pharmaceutical company that is exploiting a rare monkey species in Panama.
The episode opens with a group of researchers and scientists protesting outside the headquarters of Concorde Pharmaceuticals, the company responsible for the destruction of the monkey's natural habitat. When their protests are ignored, they turn to the Leverage team for help.
Nate Ford (played by Timothy Hutton) and his team, a group of former criminals turned do-gooders, are hired to take down Concorde Pharmaceuticals and its CEO, Adam Gilroy (played by Peter Woodward).
To start, the team needs to gather evidence of Concorde's illegal activities in Panama. They set their sights on infiltrating the company's heavily guarded lab in order to steal documents proving that the company is profiting from the illegal destruction of the monkey's habitat.
The team quickly realizes that they'll need some inside help, which leads them to recruit the hapless, yet well-intentioned security guard at the lab, played by Aleyse Shannon.
The plan involves Eliot Spencer (played by Christian Kane) disguising himself as a wealthy eco-tourist and teaming up with Parker (played by Beth Riesgraf) to pose as an animal rights activist. Meanwhile, Hardison (played by Aldis Hodge) and Breanna (played by Aleyse Shannon) work their tech magic to get Eliot and Parker inside the lab.
As the team carries out their elaborate plan, they encounter numerous obstacles and close calls, including a tense confrontation with the arrogant CEO Adam Gilroy. But the team's ingenuity and clever tactics ultimately help them achieve their goal and gather the evidence they need to take down the corrupt pharmaceutical company.
Leverage: Redemption episode 2 not only delivers thrilling heist action, but also sheds light on the important issue of conservation and the exploitation of endangered species.
