After a brief hiatus of Leveragistas, the crew of Robin Hood-esque do-gooders have returned in full force in the latest episode, 'The Unwellness Job.' In the episode, we're introduced to veteran actor Richard Kind who plays the role of a tech millionaire, and who is in desperate need of the Leverage team's help. After suffering a cancer diagnosis and undergoing chemotherapy, the billionaire's recent liver transplant has left him with a laundry list of medical expenses that he can't seem to keep up with. To make matters worse, he's been targeted by his own insurance company, who are looking for a way to terminate their coverage for his condition in an effort to save themselves money.
With Sophie playing a crucial role as the tech-savvy and socially skilled member of the team, she's tasked with infiltrating the insurance company and gathering the intel necessary to bring them down - a task that brings back some not-so-fond memories of her days as a grifter. Meanwhile, the rest of the team is working on their own parts of the heist - Eliot is tasked with impersonating a doctor in order to administer a fake liver test on Kind, while Hardison is busy creating a fake, but convincing, website designed to scare the insurance company into thinking they're in trouble.
But things don't go quite as planned when they discover that the insurance company is not as easily deceived as they once thought. With the team running out of time to get Kind the medical care that he desperately needs, Parker comes up with a daring plan that involves stealing a large sum of money from the insurance company in an effort to force them to keep Kind's medical coverage intact.
Overall, 'The Unwellness Job' is a perfect example of all the things that made Leverage so beloved, and why its return has been so highly anticipated. With its mix of heart, humor, and high-stakes thrills, this episode is a reminder of just how vital the show was when it was on the air, and how wonderful it is to have it back. As always, the cast is in top form, with Kind being a standout addition to the team, and the overarching theme of taking down the corrupt insurance industry is a timely and relevant one. If you're a fan of the show, this episode is not to be missed.
