The Murtaugh File is the fourteenth episode of the first season of Lethal Weapon. The episode begins with a flashback that shows Detective Roger Murtaugh's arrest of his former partner Ronnie Delgado for his involvement in a drug cartel. In the present day, Murtaugh is worried that Delgado may be out for revenge after being released from prison.
While investigating a Robbery/Homicide, Riggs and Murtaugh discover that the stolen item is directly linked to Delgado. They decide to keep their findings a secret from Captain Brooks Avery and attempt to handle the situation on their own. Meanwhile, Detective Bailey is upset with Murtaugh for not respecting her authority and not recognizing her contribution to the team.
As the investigation unfolds, Murtaugh starts to think that Delgado is behind the recent robberies in the area. He decides to go through the old case files, known as 'The Murtaugh File', to try and find any clues that may lead them to Delgado. However, the file is missing, and Murtaugh suspects that someone may have taken it.
Riggs and Murtaugh are then forced to work with Detective Bowman, who has a reputation for being a difficult partner. The two are forced to reveal their secret to Bowman and convince him to help with the investigation. As they continue to trace Delgado's movements, they soon come across a larger conspiracy involving a corrupt LAPD officer and the drug cartel.
As the case comes to a head, Riggs and Murtaugh must race against time to stop the perpetrators and save innocent lives. Along the way, they also get a chance to prove their worth to each other and work towards strengthening their partnership.
Overall, The Murtaugh File is a thrilling episode that explores the underlying tensions between the characters while also keeping the stakes high with a complex investigation. It showcases the show's dedication to delivering exciting action packed moments while also giving viewers a chance to connect with the characters on a deeper level.
