In LEGO City Adventures season 3 episode 9, titled "Makeover and Over," the citizens of LEGO City are gearing up for a fashion show fundraiser to benefit the city's zoo. The episode opens with the fashion designer, Lila, showcasing her designs to the mayor and other influential members of the city. However, when the models come out wearing the outfits, chaos ensues as the runway collapses, and Lila's designs are ruined.
Meanwhile, Police Chief Percival "Wheelie" Wheeler is investigating a series of break-ins at high-end department stores. He believes that the thief, known as "The Cat Burglar," may be targeting the fashion show. The police department is on high alert, and Officer Duke DeTain is assigned to keep watch over the event.
Duke DeTain is excited about his special assignment and decides to improve his self-image. He asks his fellow police officers, Frank and Jimmy, for their opinion on his outfit, and they tell him that he looks outdated. Duke is heartbroken and decides to seek fashion advice from one of the city's most stylish citizens, Harl Hubbs.
Harl Hubbs is a fashion influencer and has a massive following on social media. He agrees to help Duke, and they venture to various clothing stores across the city. However, nothing seems to be to Harl's liking, and Duke becomes increasingly anxious. In a desperate attempt to impress Harl, Duke takes up yoga, posts his outfit choices on social media, and even gets a sun-kissed tan.
Meanwhile, The Cat Burglar has made his way to the fashion show, and Duke spies him sneaking around backstage. In his hasty attempt to apprehend the thief, Duke knocks over a clothing rack and ends up getting tangled up in a dress. The burglar uses this opportunity to escape, and Duke ends up being the laughing stock of the event.
Back at the police station, Duke confides in Frank and Jimmy that he feels like a failure. However, they remind him of all the other times he has successfully apprehended criminals and saved the city. They tell him that his fashion sense doesn't define him as a police officer and that he needs to have confidence in his abilities and himself.
As the episode closes, Lila presents her new collection at the zoo fundraiser. The citizens of LEGO City come together to support the cause, and the Chief of Police even walks the runway to show his support. All ends well, and Duke realizes that his self-worth is not determined by his fashion sense.
