It's a typical day in the Cleaver household as the family gathers around the kitchen table for breakfast. But a problem arises when Beaver refuses to eat his oatmeal, insisting that he's not hungry. June and Ward become increasingly concerned as the day progresses and Beaver still refuses to eat anything.
The family tries everything to get Beaver to eat, from bribing him with dessert to forcing him to sit at the table until he finishes his meal. But nothing seems to work. As the day goes on, Beaver's behavior becomes increasingly moody and irritable, leading to arguments with his brother and parents.
June and Ward begin to worry that there may be something more serious going on with their son's health, so they take him to see Dr. Jenkins, the family physician. Dr. Jenkins examines Beaver and orders some tests to determine if there's an underlying medical condition that's causing his loss of appetite.
While they wait for the test results, the family tries to keep things as normal as possible. But Beaver's refusal to eat starts to take a toll on everyone. Ward and June wonder if they're doing something wrong as parents, and worry that Beaver's behavior is a sign that they've failed in some way.
Meanwhile, Beaver's friends and classmates notice that something's off with him. They try to engage him in conversation and invite him to join in games and activities, but he's not interested. Beaver starts to feel like an outsider, and the isolation only makes things worse.
As the days go by, the tension in the Cleaver household reaches a breaking point. Beaver's ongoing refusal to eat and his increasingly difficult behavior cause fights and tears. In a scene that's both poignant and difficult to watch, the family comes together to confront the issue and figure out what's going on with Beaver.
Ultimately, the tests reveal that there's nothing medically wrong with Beaver. The family is relieved, but still confused about what's causing his behavior. In the end, they realize that Beaver's lack of appetite is rooted in something emotional. With patience and understanding, they help him work through his issues and find a way to move forward as a family.
