Beaver Gets Adopted is the twenty-second episode of the second season of the classic American sitcom, Leave It to Beaver. The show revolves around the Cleaver family, particularly the misadventures of their youngest son, Beaver.
In this episode, Beaver hears a rumor that his parents are going to give him up for adoption. At first, he doesn't believe it, but when his parents start talking to him and his brother Wally about adopting a baby, Beaver becomes convinced that he's going to be replaced.
Throughout the episode, Beaver tries various ways to prove to his parents that he's worthy of staying in the family. He tries doing chores around the house, being extra obedient, and even offering to give away his beloved pet frog, but nothing seems to work.
As Beaver becomes more and more anxious about the impending adoption, he starts acting out at school, getting into fights and causing trouble. His teacher, Miss Landers, notices that something is wrong and asks him about it. Beaver confides in her about the rumor he heard and Miss Landers reassures him that his parents wouldn't give him up.
Meanwhile, Beaver's parents, June and Ward, are completely unaware of their son's fears. They're excited about the prospect of adopting a baby and are in the process of filling out paperwork and getting background checks done.
Just when it seems like Beaver's worst fears are about to come true, his parents finally sit down with him and Wally to talk about the adoption. They explain that they're not adopting a baby to replace Beaver, but because they have enough love to give to another child.
Beaver is relieved and happy to hear this, and even more so when his parents ask him and Wally to help choose a name for the new baby. The episode ends with the family coming together and being excited about the new addition to their family.
Overall, Beaver Gets Adopted is a heartwarming episode that deals with the fears and anxieties that children can feel when they think they're going to lose their place in their family. It's a reminder that no matter how much love and attention a new baby may require, there's always enough to go around.
