Sideshow (1) is the 14th episode of the 9th season of the popular crime drama Law & Order. This episode follows the investigation of two murders that occur during a travelling sideshow that has come to New York City. As the police and detectives begin their investigation, they quickly realize that the circus performers and employees are not always forthcoming with information about the crimes.
The episode begins with the discovery of the first murder victim, a young woman who was found strangled in her trailer. The police soon realize that she was a member of the travelling sideshow that had set up in the city the previous week. As they begin their investigation, they discover that there is very little information available about the victim, as well as the other members of the sideshow.
Detective Lennie Briscoe and his partner, Rey Curtis, soon discover that the sideshow has a very tight-knit community and that they are extremely reluctant to talk to outsiders. They begin by interviewing the other performers and employees in an attempt to find any information about the victim.
As the investigation progresses, the police discover that the victim's murder is not the only one that has occurred within the sideshow. They soon find another victim, and they realize that they are dealing with a serial killer who is targeting members of the sideshow.
The detectives begin to unravel a web of secrets and lies that surround the sideshow. They soon discover that many of the performers and employees have prior criminal records, and they begin to suspect that some of them may be involved in the murders.
Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney, Claire Kincaid, is building a case against a drug dealer who is using the sideshow as a front for his illegal activities. She works closely with the police to gather evidence against the dealer, but they soon realize that he may be more involved in the murders than they originally thought.
As the investigation continues, the detectives gather more evidence that leads them to the killer's identity. However, they must act quickly to prevent any more murders from occurring.
The episode ends with the killer being brought to justice, and the sideshow leaving the city, not to return again.
Overall, Sideshow (1) is an intense and gripping episode of Law & Order. The show's writers expertly weave together a complex mystery, while also delving into the lives and relationships of the various sideshow performers and employees. The episode is a must-see for fans of the series and for anyone who enjoys thrilling crime dramas.
