In season 7 episode 3 of Law & Order entitled "Good Girl," the detectives of the 27th precinct are called to investigate the murder of a teenage girl, who was found strangled in the bathroom of her private school. The victim, Samantha Weaver, had been a model student and was well-liked by her classmates and teachers alike.
As Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) begin to investigate, they discover that Samantha was secretly involved in several illicit activities, including drugs and prostitution. Her family and friends are shocked to learn of her double life, but the detectives soon learn that Samantha's boyfriend, Jeff (David Moscow), played a major role in leading her down this dangerous path.
As Jeff becomes the prime suspect in Samantha's murder, his wealthy parents hire a high-priced defense attorney to represent him. Despite overwhelming evidence, the defense attorney manages to cast doubt on the prosecution's case, leaving the detectives struggling to find a way to get justice for Samantha.
Meanwhile, the assistant district attorney, Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston), faces a personal crisis when he discovers that one of his witnesses may have lied on the stand in a previous case. As he grapples with his conscience, McCoy must decide whether to reveal the truth and risk losing the case, or to keep quiet and potentially compromise his integrity.
As the trial progresses, the detectives and the prosecution team must fight to bring Samantha's killer to justice, while facing their own personal demons along the way. With twists and turns at every turn, "Good Girl" is a gripping episode of Law & Order that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
