Ep 12. Trophy

The detectives also discover that there was a fraud squad investigation into Baptiste’s business activities.

With all these suspects and motives, the legal team of Jack McCoy and Claire Kincaid must navigate through a minefield of evidence, legal procedures, and ethics. They must decide who to charge with murder and how to proceed with the case when it seems like everyone involved has something to hide.

The episode does an excellent job of demonstrating conviction rates, and the effects they can have on the justice system. As it turns out, one of the central witnesses had previously lied under oath and was a tainted witness, forcing the district attorney's office to reconsider how they might proceed with the prosecution.

As the episode progresses, the tension builds, and the twists and turns of the plot keep the audience on the edge of their seats. The viewer is left wondering who the real killer is until the very end. The show's standard law and order formula are present throughout, but the complex characterization makes it stand out from other police procedurals.

Ultimately, Trophy is a tense and riveting episode that forces the viewer to consider the flaws of the justice system and the impact that corruption, greed, and deception can have on society. Through the use of compelling storytelling and skilled acting, the audience is transported into the world of the detectives and legal team, making for a powerful and unforgettable experience.
