The episode titled "Alien" from season 7 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit follows the investigation of the sexual assault of a young Hispanic girl named Marisol. The SVU team is called in to investigate the case after Marisol is found on the side of the road with bruises on her face and body.
It quickly becomes apparent that Marisol was raped, and the investigation leads the SVU team to a factory where Marisol worked with many other illegal immigrants. While at the factory, the detectives find evidence that points to a particularly cruel supervisor who appears to be responsible for Marisol's assault.
Despite the supervisor's attempts to cover up the crime, the detectives do not give up on their search for the truth. Along the way, they learn more about Marisol's life as an undocumented immigrant and the many challenges she faced as a result.
Meanwhile, Benson is dealing with her own personal struggles as she begins to question whether or not she is ready to adopt a child. Her doubts and anxieties are compounded by the fact that her boyfriend, who is also a detective in the SVU unit, seems completely ready to become a father.
As the case moves forward, the detectives begin to realize that the factory where Marisol worked may have more secrets than they initially thought. They also come up against resistance from a community that is unwilling to cooperate with the police for fear of deportation.
As the detectives struggle to find justice for Marisol, they must also navigate their own personal lives and struggles. "Alien" is a compelling and emotionally charged episode that highlights the challenges faced by undocumented immigrants and the difficulties that come with investigating crimes against them.
