Detective Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler are called to investigate an attack on a young girl in her home in Queens. The girl has been beaten and raped, and the detectives are tasked with finding her attacker. As they investigate, they discover that the girl's parents are undocumented immigrants and are hesitant to cooperate with the police for fear of being deported.
Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Cabot begins building a case against a wealthy businessman who has been accused of raping his own daughter. The case hits close to home for Cabot, as she herself is a victim of sexual assault. The businessman's powerful connections and wealth make the case a difficult one to prosecute, but Cabot is determined to see justice served.
As Benson and Stabler continue their investigation, they begin to uncover a web of corruption and cover-ups involving the city's elite. They also discover that the girl's attacker may be linked to the businessman Cabot is prosecuting. The two cases begin to collide, and the detectives and ADA must work together to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Throughout the episode, the theme of resilience is explored. The victim and her family must find the strength to overcome their trauma and face their abuser in court. Cabot, a survivor herself, must overcome her own past trauma to effectively prosecute the wealthy businessman. And Benson and Stabler, faced with a case that seems impossible to solve, must demonstrate their own resilience in the face of adversity.
As the episode comes to a close, the detectives and ADA are left grappling with the repercussions of their investigations. The victim and her family must find a way to move forward with their lives, while those responsible for the crimes must face the consequences of their actions.
