Detectives Olivia Benson and Nick Amaro investigate a series of brutal assaults in Central Park, which lead them to a delusional writer named Holden March (guest star John Karna). Holden believes that he is a vigilante hero, dispensing justice by attacking supposedly guilty people who have avoided punishment. Despite the detectives' efforts to convince Holden that he is endangering himself and others, he refuses to stop, publishing his exploits in a manifesto that becomes a rallying point for other disaffected young men. Meanwhile, ADA Barba faces a dilemma when some of the victims refuse to testify against Holden, fearing that they will be seen as accomplices to his crimes. As the case becomes more complicated and dangerous, the detectives must use all their skills and resources to stop Holden before he causes even more harm.
