The Man From Oswestry is the first episode of the third season of the classic British sitcom Last of the Summer Wine. The episode originally aired on January 9, 1980, and follows the misadventures of a group of elderly friends in the picturesque Yorkshire town of Holmfirth.

The episode begins with the trio of Compo, Clegg, and Blamire passing the time on a park bench. They spot a well-dressed man walking through the park and assume he must be a tourist, as he is carrying a camera. However, when they discover that the man is from Oswestry, a nearby town, they become suspicious. They decide to follow him and investigate what he is doing in their town.

As the three friends follow the man, they discover that he is a window dresser for a department store. They follow him to the store and watch as he creates a display for the latest fashions. The trio are impressed by his skill and become convinced that he could help them impress Nora Batty, the object of Compo's affection.

Compo comes up with a plan to recruit the window dresser to help him impress Nora. He invites the man to meet them at the local pub, The Duck and Drake, and introduces him to Nora. However, things don't go quite as planned when the man becomes obsessed with Nora, much to Compo's dismay.

Meanwhile, Blamire becomes fixated on the idea of climbing a nearby hill, much to the annoyance of Clegg and Compo. The trio eventually give in to Blamire's enthusiasm and set off on their adventure. However, their climb proves to be more challenging than they anticipated, and they encounter a number of mishaps along the way.

As the episode progresses, the various plotlines converge, culminating in a hilarious and chaotic finale involving the trio, the window dresser, Nora Batty, and a pair of runaway mannequins.

The Man From Oswestry is a classic example of the gentle, whimsical humor that Last of the Summer Wine is known for. The episode features a delightful mix of absurd situations, endearing characters, and charming Yorkshire scenery. It also boasts a talented cast, including Peter Sallis as Clegg, Bill Owen as Compo, and Michael Bates as Blamire.

Overall, The Man From Oswestry is an enjoyable and entertaining episode that captures the essence of Last of the Summer Wine. Fans of the show will undoubtedly appreciate the charming humor and quirky characters that make this episode so memorable.
